  Hey, nice, Doug. My favorite new feature is the RSS feed. In the past I’ve been slow to notice some of your posts because I’d forget to check your site, but now it’ll be easy.

  Thank, Rob–I didn’t realize the RSS has been a problem, but apparently it’s widespread among readers.

  I’m pretty proud of my new Film and Video Venues Map (in the upper left column).

  My biggest worry right now if trying to figure out how to transfer over all my previous comments to posts, which has been such an important part of Filmjourney since the beginning.

  Doug — Your blog has a special place in my heart: it was the first one I ever read! (Film or otherwise.) That was way back in the summer of ‘04. I remember seeing all these new names interacting with each other (you, Darren, Rob, etc.) and when I saw Acquarello here, I was emboldened to introduce myself, and in a couple of months, join the blogosphere.

  I just checked, and the new RSS feed works well after the changeover. The old site RSS would work for me but it was pesky–it would publish each new post as 10 or more different feeds (publishing a different feed for each paragraph and graphic). Like Rob and Harry, I’m very dependent on RSS, so this is great.

  Good to see you, Harry and Girish–I’m glad the RSS is working well. I didn’t realize what a problem it was until I logged onto Google Reader and saw what a mess my site was.

  Yea! Looks great, Doug. Now, you don’t have to toggle between pages to check out recent activity.

  I guess I’d better get my first post approval out the way then, pesky spambots! I remember one time I hoaked up some code in my MT installation and no else but spambots could post a comment. >:(

  I sure hope not, Michael. This move hasn’t been entirely within my control, so I’ve had to depend on the tech support people at Manila (who are completely abandoninng Weblogger for good)…if they don’t come through on this, I’ll have to see what I can do to get the old comments myself; maybe even create a separate archive page here.

  Sounds like the archival material is slowly coming along–from the tech people: “I am going to be doing a separate script to render out threads to a single page with indents to represent relationships — connecting them to the original stories or news posts may be a bit tricky however. This work cannot possibly commence before July 1st however.”

  Hope everything goes well with restarting your blog, and hope that you’ll start posting more of your views on film events in L.A. (which has been of much intense discussion of late, cf. Mark Gill’s comments on “independent film” at the Los Angeles Film Festival).

  Thanks, Daryl! As a matter of fact, I’ve been able to see a handful of films at LAFF, and I’m looking forward to writing about them asap. I will definitely check out Mark Gill…
